Le Intern

So being an intern has turned out to be incredibly stressful and rewarding. I finished embellishing a fabulously cute dress, and was complimented on my work! Even though I ended up having to redo part of it so I could add a few more beads, the finished product was very satisfying! All in a days work! But that wasn't the best part of my day. Because at approximately 9:47 this morning, I was waiting to cross 39th street, when I happened to notice a man in a pin-striped suit standing nearby. This man happened to turn to his right, when a shocking realization hit me. I was standing within 3 feet of the iconic TIM GUNN.

And I didn't say a word.

That's right. I simply stared around me, wondering if anyone else was seeing what I was. Unfortunately, there were only a few old people milling around, and no doubt they didn't even recognize him. But boy, did I recognize him. I practically had a heart attack there on the sidewalk. Butterflies beat against the inside of my torso with baseball bats. And yet, the little light man blinked to life on the crosswalk sign, and Tim Gunn strolled down the sidewalk, stopping to ponder a small newspaper stand on the corner. I kept going, stepping within feet of this man, and too afraid to just say hello.

But that sounds depressing. It was a GOOD experience, I promise! I'm just still kicking myself for being so... me. hahaha. I didn't want to seem like a creeper, even though Tim Gunn is a good man, someone I greatly respect, and probably wouldn't have been bothered at all.

But no worries. I spend 5 days a week wandering the fashion district of New York City.

I may get a second chance.

Waif

Just a quick post. It's resort season, and the nineties haven't quite disappeared yet. In fact, there are quite a few subtle grunge-y influences appearing here and there, such as in The Row, where each model is sporting a pair of flat black loafers. Casual? Methinks so. Every collection is different of course, but there are many who exhibit these tiny tastes of waif goodness.

I especially love the Burberry look, the nude color of the dress looks so transparent, I feel like tuning into some Nirvana and Alanis Morissette.

And of course, Marc Jacobs, who cashed in on the grunge look when it was big, and became an American fashion icon. To have a cute little white dress paired with an unremarkable black hoodie, you'd think the girl didn't even care.

Perfect.

To design, or not to design

Apologies. I have neglected my blog as of late. But, to anyone interested, I have successfully relocated to New York City, and am currently interning under La ROK. Today was my fourth day working, and it has been FANTASTIC. Our tiny little office shares a floor with many other lines, including Elizabeth and James, and Steve Madden. We even have a chic little showroom.
Plus, I admit it was very exciting to see Mary Kate and Ashley walk within feet of us lowly little interns. =D

I love the city.

ROOTS

So, I have returned to my roots, and changed my blog title... again.

But no worries. I have decided to just be the Poptart Bandit from now on. 'Tis me, and nobody else. So, this will not only be a fashion blog, but a music, art, and fanciful blog of loveliness.

Innocent Seduction?

So! I still haven't decided on how to change my blog layout, etc.
But when I do figure it out, it will be EPIC. =]

It's quite a stretch...

The purpose of this post is to share a lovely impulse buy!

It's my $8 flower stretch ring from Payless! Random, I know, to walk into a shoe store and leave with only a ring. But, it spoke to my heart and therefore now rests on my finger.



I have lately become quite intrigued with these gawdy, sparkly rings.

I'm in love. They feel like the perfect blend between chunky, eccentric, and feminine, not too big, but definitely not small. Not to mention, chunky cocktail rings have become quite a trend this season...

There were so many awesome rings to choose from, but I decided to stick with flowers in order to narrow it down... whew~
Forever 21 also had some super cute bow rings, and even animal rings too. Alas... perhaps I can share some more finds next time. :)
